Summer eating Mauritius-style

With the 1st June on the horizon and summer showing all signs of finally lifting spirits, my patience has rapidly grown into hunger. So it only seems appropriate to get all my culinary-keen readers in the mood for some easy sunshine recipes. (which naturally means you can spend far more time alfresco and less in the heat of the kitchen!)

June is also the month when the lovely Shelina Permaloo, Masterchef 2012 winner, is to release her first cookbook, Sunshine on a plate, and here are some of the recipes and photography I created and styled to celebrate this new launch.  Mauritius-born Shelina speaks a multi-cultural food language with inspiration spread wide via Jamaica, France, India, Africa, Britain and China to name a few.  I was keen to recreate this unique fresh vibrancy within my styling to encompass the essence of all these gourmet destinations.

I hope this flash of colour will encourage fresh flavours and first time eating – not just in the kitchen, but on laps and alike surrounded by friends, family and the fresh garden bloom. Happy summer feasting!
